Clinician Advisory Board

The mission of the Clinician Advisory Board is to assist MedAptus in meeting its objective of creating indispensable technology tools for physicians and their practices. Board members were selected from the MedAptus customer base and represent multi-specialty groups ranging in size from 70 to over 450 physicians. Each member was chosen due to a propensity for leadership within his given provider organization. In fact, many have pioneered the use of point-of-care tools by articulating their value to colleagues.

Michael Lee, MD
Dr. Lee is currently Chairman of the Board of HealthOne Care Systems, Inc., a new parent entity of four major medical groups encompassing 600,000 patients in the greater Boston area.

Dr. Lee graduated from Yale University in 1984 with a B.A. in Electrical Engineering Sciences. After he graduated from medical school in 1988 at McGill University in Canada, he did his pediatric residency at the Boston Floating Hospital for Infants & Children/Tufts – New England Medical Center. In 1991 he began his private general pediatric practice at Dedham Medical Associates (DMA), a 70-physician multi-specialty group outside of Boston. He was President of the Board of Directors of DMA from 1998-2002. Since 1993 he has served as Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Tufts University School of Medicine where he is in charge of supervising and teaching pediatric residents for their outpatient clinic experience. Dr. Lee is especially interested in the incorporation of medical technology into clinical practice.

Paresh Shah, MD, FACS
Dr. Shah is a leader in minimally invasive surgery and was recently named Director of Laparoscopic Services at Lenox Hill Hospital.

Dr. Shah was previously the Director of the Minimal Access Surgery and Technology Center and the Director of The Center for Surgical Obesity at Lahey Clinic in Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree in 1991 from The State University of New York Health Science Center in Brooklyn, NY and completed his internship at Kings County Hospital in Brooklyn. After a fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, he completed his residency in General Surgery at Lahey Clinic in 1999. He was been a member of the faculty of Tufts University Medical School as an Assistant Professor of Surgery. Dr. Shah’s clinical interests include advanced laparoscopic surgery, bariatric surgery for morbid obesity and robotic surgery. He has worked extensively in the development of new technology and instrumentation for the operating room, as well as, for the overall health care environment.

Michael Sirkin, MD
Dr. Sirkin is the Chief of the Orthopaedic Trauma Service at the University of Medicine and Dentistry, New Jersey Medical School (UMDNJ). He is also Vice President of its faculty practice plan, University Physician Associates of New Jersey (UPA).

Dr. Sirkin attended Michigan State University where he received a bachelor’s degree in Physiology. He attended medical school at the New Jersey Medical School and graduated as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. He completed his fellowship in Orthopaedic Trauma at the Florida Orthopaedic Institute. In 1997, Dr. Sirkin became a full time faculty member at UMDNJ with the rank of assistant professor. Dr. Sirkin's practice encompasses all areas of trauma including complex fracture care and the management of associated complications including nonunions and malunions. He also treats chronic and acute bone infections and has a particular interest in the realm of foot trauma.

Executive Advisory Board

The Executive Advisory Board was designed to provide a forum for senior level executives from MedAptus' customer base to review both strategic and product plans and to provide input and feedback accordingly. Board participants include executives from customers that range in size from 70 providers to over 450 providers.

Sanford Kurtz, MD
Chief Operating Officer, Lahey Clinic
As chief operating officer, Dr. Kurtz is responsible for the day-to-day operations of Lahey Clinic and is the senior administrative leader. He also serves as chief medical officer; vice chair of the Clinic’s Board of Governors, a body of physicians that serves as the executive leadership of the organization; and as a member of the Board of Trustees.

For the past three years, Dr. Kurtz has managed Lahey’s Internet based, high-risk patient population management program and written and presented its results. He has also developed programs that integrate clinic-based outpatient care management and community-based resource programs to improve health outcomes.

Dr. Kurtz received his medical degree from the six-year medical program at the Boston University School of Medicine. He completed his residency at New England Deaconess Hospital and his internship at Boston City Hospital.

Dr. Kurtz is currently chair of the American Medical Group Association (AMGA). In addition, he is past chair of the Steering Committee of the Group Practice Improvement Network (GPIN) and serves as chair of the Advisory Committee to the Trustees on Group Practice of the American Medical Association.

John N. Parker
Chief Executive Officer, Dedham Medical Associates, Inc.
As CEO, Mr. Parker is responsible to the Board of Trustees of Dedham Medical Associates (DMA) leading its Senior Management Team to carry out the strategic goals of the organization. Mr. Parker was a key member of the team that created HealthOne Care System, the parent corporation of DMA and four other medical groups (Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates, South Shore Medical Center, Southboro Medical Group and Granite Medical Associates.

Mr. Parker received his Bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College and a Master’s in Public Health from Yale University. Mr. Parker has served DMA for seventeen years as CEO.

Michael Saulich
Executive Director, University Physician Associates of New Jersey
Mr. Saulich is a senior healthcare executive with 31 years of progressive experience and achievements in healthcare. His professional experience spans the healthcare gamut from strategic planning, marketing, managed care negotiations, financial management and medical group and practice management.

In his current role Mr. Saulich is the executive director and CEO of University Physician Associates (“UPA”), a 900+ physician faculty practice plan affiliated with the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey, which is the largest academic practice plan in the country with gross charges exceeding $325 million.

Mr. Saulich holds a Bachelors Degree in Accounting from St. Louis University and a dual degree in Finance, Health and Medical Services Administration from Webster University. His prior work experience includes vice president positions in academic medical centers in St. Louis and an assistant director of finance role at University of Chicago Medical Center.

Deborah J. Wilson, CPA
Executive Vice President of Finance and Operations, Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates
Ms. Wilson is currently the executive vice president of finance and operations at Bridgewater Goddard Park Medical Associates, Inc. (BGPMA). BGPMA is one of the largest multi-specialty physician practices on the south shore of Boston.

Ms. Wilson has extensive experience in healthcare finance and operations. After joining BGPMA in 1998 to serve as CFO, Ms. Wilson assisted the organization in a major restructuring in 2000, at which point she assumed her current role. She has also successfully implemented numerous patient and workflow enhancements at BGPMA, including MedAptus, Televox, and other clinical systems that led to NCQA recognition of BGPMA for its use of technology to improve patient care.

Prior to joining the practice, Ms. Wilson was the director of accounting and budgeting at Partners Community Healthcare, Inc, and prior to that, audit manager for Deloitte & Touche.
