Company Also Releases v. 5.0 of Charges In Hand to Further Enhance Customer Adoption, Momentum
Boston, MA - August 26, 2004 - MedAptus, Inc. today announced that usage of its mobile charge capture application, Charges In Hand™, has recently enabled its customer base to electronically capture and submit a milestone one-millionth charge. These transactions, all documented via clinician PocketPC™ handheld devices and validated by MedAptus' sophisticated rules engine, represent hundreds of millions of dollars in professional fees.
This record usage demonstrates the ease-of-use and adoptability of Charges In Hand, MedAptus' flagship application. In fact, many customers are either at, or nearing, 100 percent adoption through a phased implementation process. And for groups who have had to manage competing IT initiatives, MedAptus' streamlined implementation methodology has allowed for initial deployments in compressed timeframes.
Charges In Hand is well documented to yield significant financial benefits, including increasing the number of gross charges captured as well as improving net collections due to the enhanced coding accuracy and compliance facilitated by the system. One MedAptus customer experiencing such benefits is world-renowned Lahey Clinic, located in Burlington, Massachusetts. Lahey alone has processed over 150,000 charges thus far in 2004.
"We first engaged with MedAptus three years ago, with a 15-clinician pilot. Since then, we've successfully rolled-out to over 250 providers and have experienced considerable operational efficiencies, above and beyond improved revenue cycle management," noted Linda Cagle, senior vice president of support services at Lahey Clinic. She further added that the Charges In Hand implementation has also provided for a well-established, universal platform for dictation, e-prescribing, and clinical content, in addition to helping Lahey eliminate lost charges and decrease its time-to-payment by more than ten percent.
To further enhance its end-user experience, MedAptus has recently released its version 5.0 of Charges In Hand. This upgrade offers improved bi-directional communication between clinical and coding staff in the form of message alerts, as well as enhanced dictation functionality, expanded clinical content and optimized synchronization. Version 5.0 also eases the process of completing hospital consults as it provides clinicians with more control over the access of patients assigned to other services and/or physicians that require professional charges.
MedAptus also reports that its customers and prospects can look forward to some new product offerings later this year, most notably, a workstation application that replicates the best features of Charges In Hand on a desktop form factor.
"Many of our current customers were early-adopters of mobile charge capture so I'm obviously thrilled by the momentum and progress they are seeing across, in many cases, large provider bases," stated Dennis Mitchell, chief executive officer of MedAptus. "Given these successes, along with the improvements to Charges In Hand as reflected in our latest upgrade, we strongly anticipate that our newest customers will too experience tremendous benefits as a result of deploying our mobile offerings."
