State-of-the-Art Clinical Cancer Center Commences Mobile Computing Initiative with Electronic Charge Capture
BOSTON - October 20, 2005 - MedAptus(R) today announced that its practice-proven charge capture solution has been selected by NYU Medical Center. The initial deployment of the system will occur at NYU’s Clinical Cancer Center, the central outpatient setting for the National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated NYU Cancer Institute. The Center, which opened last summer, strives to meet the needs of people with cancer in one convenient, comfortable and state-of-the-art facility.
MedAptus delivers solutions that improve the revenue cycle, connecting an organization’s financial goals to physician clinical needs and the well-being of patients. Integrated with existing scheduling, billing and electronic medical records systems, MedAptus’ charge capture offering supports professional coding and compliance at the point-of-care. The MedAptus suite additionally allows physician-users to manage daily schedules, review and retrieve patient demographic and history information, dictate notes, access medical reference material, transmit electronic prescriptions and review test results.
The NYU Clinical Cancer Center is housed within a 13-floor building that contains several multidisciplinary centers that are focused on the care of patients with certain cancers. The Center provides a host of services, including screening, diagnosis, radiation and education, all delivered on an outpatient basis. This model allows patients to benefit from comprehensive and integrated care, all within a central location, without the need to be away from their families.
“NYU has been at the forefront of cancer research and treatment for almost three decades. Our Clinical Cancer Center is one of the most advanced facilities of its kind in the United States, so it only makes sense that we seek cutting-edge technologies, such as those provided by MedAptus, to support our delivery of clinical excellence,” stated Andrew Brotman, M.D., Vice Dean for Clinical and Hospital Affairs at NYU School of Medicine. “We know that to ultimately conquer cancer, we must continue our investments into clinical research. Electronic charge capture can help us make these investments given its ability to drive accurate and timely coding and subsequently deliver a rapid and significant ROI.”
“Needless to say, we are thrilled to be working with an institution as prestigious as NYU Medical Center, and with a facility as cutting-edge as its Cancer Center. Many of our customers have been able to accomplish some tremendous things with the resulting revenue increases our product delivers and we anticipate the same for NYU,” said Dennis Mitchell, President and CEO of MedAptus. He went on to add that the NYU Cancer Institute is the second NCI-designated cancer center to choose MedAptus’ technology in less than a year.
