CASE STUDY: THE BROOKLYN HOSPITAL CENTER

The Brooklyn Hospital Center (TBHC) realized that its reliance on a paper-based coding and billing process was creating revenue problems. Across numerous clinical areas, protracted charge lag, late and missing charges and incorrectly coded encounters caused significant revenue cycle challenges.

After its complete review of the different options in the marketplace, TBHC chose MedAptus’s Charge Capture PRO to fully integrate its electronic charge capture into a number of different departments, including Critical Care, Dermatology, Neurosurgery, Bariatric Surgery and numerous others.

THE RESULTS

After only several months of adoption by the pilot groups, TBHC saw charge capture improve by 14% and payments improve by 20% in surgery and 61% and 39% respectively in medicine. Charge lag declined by 43% in surgery and 53% in medicine.
